Can you say "K.O."?
For a tantalizing glimpse at one of the finest responses to an editorial I've personally ever read, check this out:
War is a horrible tragedy, a failure of civilization, to be avoided whenever possible, and to be undertaken with reluctance, with an awesome sense of responsibility, and with a willingness to make every effort to end it quickly on those occasions when it is unavoidable.
This is the always-readable "Digby" educating Roger Cohen on the real-world...
Without a doubt one of the finest definitions of war ever written.
Digby read Roger Cohen's op-ed "The New L-Word: Neocon" and got a lot more out of it than I did when I read it myself earlier today. As if I needed yet another reason to head over to Hullaballoo every day...
While I took exception to statements like this...
Democrats have learned from their nuance-free bludgeoning by Republicans in the 2004 election, and they’re reciprocating. I’ll see your "liberal" with a "neocon" — and truth be damned.
...I didn't have the ability to take Cohen to the mat. My thought was how any liberal agenda could ever be equated with the lives and expense (both financial and moral) of a fruitless and unnecessary war.
Well worth a read to those of you who have the time and haven't visited yet today.
Bravo, Tristero!(formerly Digby.) Bravo.
Updated to fix URL, too - I think... (That's what I get for rushing!--Thanks for the pointers.)
