Whew, tiresome that!
Salon’s War Room has this story. You’d think that after six years in office plus the few leading up to the campaign, debates and the election our illustrious leader would be able to dispense with phonetic assistance.
Maybe it’s not really phonetic assistance. Maybe they are adding in that Texas-rancher-cowboy drawl (tone, accent, dialect???). You know – remind the world’s leaders that Bush is a guy you’d want to have a beer with as well as the most powerful guy in the world.
"terra" for ter-er
"EYE-raq" for i-RAK
Despite being unable to understand how anyone would want to work with Bush, Dana Perino has my sympathy at times. Bush isn't book smart. He amply demonstrated he isn't business smart more than once. Trying to convince a dubious world that there is intelligence instead of ideology in there has to be an exercise in frustration.
Just something that made my Wednesday start off with a chuckle and I hope you enjoy it, too. It's been a really, really, really long time since I've had time to diary about anything here but, in the interim, a letter to the editor did get picked up by the New York Times (I'm Kristin).
Thanks to everyone else here for keeping the site hummin'. I may not be able to participate as much as in the past but I'm still a frequent visitor and I truly appreciate the contributions of everyone. You keep me informed, interested and engaged.
